70 x 7 Explanation & Instructions
This challenge has three REWARDS: 1. To help you put on the Whole Armor of God daily 2. To grow your faith from a “to do” into a “lifestyle” of obedience in Christ and 3. To develop a Mind/Body/Soul & Spirit Connection. The goal is to accomplish all 7 items for 7 days and repeat each week. Just focus on 7 days at a time. Proverbs 24:16 says, “For a just man falls 7 times; and rises up again.” Therefore, imagine week after week you have 7 Forgiveness/Mercy mulligans to learn how to forgive yourself & start again on this journey. The goal here is NOT to set you up for failure, rather instead, set you up to develop a “lifestyle” of obedience in Christ CONSISTENTLY by “seeking first the Kingdom of Heaven and putting on the whole armor of God daily,” so that you may be spiritually equipped to win your day. This is about accepting you're going to fall down, so learn how to trust God and forgive yourself and get back up. Winners never quit & quitters never win.
1. Prayer/Meditation: Start your day off in prayer 1st thing in the morning (1 Thess 5:16-18, Matt 6:9-13; Psalm 63:1a; Isaiah 50:4-5; Psalm 143:8). Prayer is how you talk to God by allowing you to surrender, submit and sacrifice your will to Him. Meditation is how you are STILL with God. This is often how you "hear" from God. So, find a quiet place daily and sit with God (Belt of Truth, Sword of the Spirit, and Shield of Faith).
Dear Lord, help me remember what a difference it makes when I make time with You a priority in my morning and throughout my day. Awaken me in body and spirit each day with a desire to meet with You and to hear You speak words of affirmation, assurance, and wisdom over my life as I prepare to enter my day, allow me to BE equipped to overcome any spiritual battle during my day. In Jesus' Name, Amen
2. Read Bible & Memorize a Scripture: Reading the Bible is how God talks to you and develops intimacy with Him and his instructions for your life (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Cor 10:5). It is how you draw closer to Him. Reading the Bible helps you to understand the things of God because His ways are higher than your ways and His thoughts are deeper than your thoughts. Consequently, putting to memory God’s word is how you can offensively discern the “truth” from Satan’s “lies.” God’s truth allows your feet to be firmly planted when challenged or tempted. When you are tempted to believe a lie, it is this truth that sets you free and equips you for the spiritual battle of the mind. This is how you can destroy arguments & opinions against the knowledge of God and take every thought captive which influences your testimony & walk with Christ (Belt of Truth, Sword of the Spirit, Shield of Faith, and Helmet of Salvation).
3. Journal: Journal daily to pour out what God has poured into us. Out of the heart are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23-27). It allows us to connect our head to our heart to better understand what God is doing in and through us. It is our way of giving an account. It is also a way for us to renew our minds in the things of God (Romans 12:1-2) all while holding to the truth of God’s word (Helmet of Salvation, Belt of Truth, and Breastplate of Righteousness).
4. Exercise/Drink Water: The body is the Holy Temple and exercise helps to preserve & prolong the body (1 Cor 3:17; 6-19-20; 9:27; Isaiah 40:29-31, Eph 6:15 & Romans 8:28). Water represents “rivers of living water” the Holy Spirit's presence and power poured out on Jesus' followers. Water keeps your body cool as part of your body's temperature regulating system. Water cushions your joints and protects your tissues and organs from shock and damage. Water acts as a lubricant for your joints, your mouth and digestive system in saliva, and in your nose, throat, eyes, and stomach as part of mucus. Therefore, the body is the Holy Spirit’s dwelling place and maintaining good health and vitality allows us to be strong, vigilant and better prepared as ambassadors for Christ as His mobile missionaries and disciples. (Breastplate of Righteousness, Shield of Faith, and Feet of Peace).
5. Sacrifice / Fast: Choose 1 thing to give up (fasting from) such as alcohol, cussing, porn, social media, lying, dessert, sugar, etc. that doesn’t serve you. You are to identify activities in your life that strengthens you and blesses others. Therefore, put away what weakens you. Be a leader of self and light/salt to others. This can change from week to week (Breastplate of Righteousness and Feet of Peace).
6. Act of Kindness: Choose to serve instead of being served (Matt 20:28). Choose to pay for someone’s meal, mow a neighbor’s lawn, pay a compliment to someone you don’t like, open a door, etc. You are to love your enemies and do good to them (Matt 5:43-44). Turn the other cheek (Matt 5:38-40), etc. (Breastplate of Righteousness, Belt of Truth, and Feet of Peace).
7. Forgive yourself & others: Healing comes through forgiveness (Eph 4:31-32, Matt 6:14 & Colossians 3:13). To forgive is not ignoring the reality of pain or wrongdoing, quite the opposite, forgiveness is wound care, it is the cleaning and bandaging of your emotional injuries because negative emotions become stored toxins of energy trapped in the body which is not healthy for you. Forgiveness is NOT for them but for you mostly (Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness and Feet of Peace). Therefore forgive 70 x 7.
